At present, the competition for automotive intelligent cockpits is becoming more and more fierce, but intelligent cockpits should not only be "intelligent", but also pay attention to safety performance considerations.

ENCAP2026 will adopt a new rating methodology, which is mainly reflected in the evaluation system of vehicle safety performance. The new rating system will be more comprehensive and nuanced, divided into four main stages:

In safe driving, the intelligent cockpit part accounts for 60%, focusing on the driver monitoring system DMS (driver fatigue, distraction detection and alarm), occupant monitoring system OMS (whether the occupant is wearing seat belts correctly, child anti-forgetfulness CPD, etc.), advanced speed assistance function ISA (speed control & road feature recognition (such as roundabouts, traffic lights, construction, etc.), only real-time updated online maps can get OTA scores) and assisted driving functions (ACC and LKA functions, horizontal and vertical combinations), and evaluate the automated driving level of the vehicle in different traffic environments.

Testing and evaluation procedures for driver control in the smart cockpit section are being developed and will be included in the text in the first quarter of 2025.

In safe driving, we need the driver to maintain attention to maintain safe control of the vehicle, and the design of vehicle control interaction leads to the driver's eyes off the road to a certain extent, which also increases the risk of driving safety.

There are several complex interaction designs:

1. Physical Key Control:

  • Provide good interactive characteristics;

  • It has a fixed position and can be operated blindly;

  • Have good tactile feedback;

    Compared with the traditional button operation and touch screen operation, the vehicle operation and control are completed by voice, and the most direct thing is to keep the driver's eyes forward, and the hands do not leave the steering wheel, so that they can concentrate as much as possible.

  • 3. Central control large screen control:

    It is more technological and highly integrated, but its manual operation is more complex than physical button control, and there are more risks for safe driving.

  • According to the ENCAP2026, a new rating method will be adopted to divide the functions used while driving into control functions related to driving tasks and functions commonly used in the use of vehicles, such as comfort and entertainment.

    These vehicle interaction design checks are subject to a defined standard that will be further defined in the technical bulletin.

     

    Under the trend of intelligent networking of automobiles, the design of human-computer interaction in automobile central control has become a very important field. Therefore, in the design of automobiles, more attention should be paid to human convenience and intuitive use, and the user barriers must be optimized to a certain extent. No matter which form of interaction is used, it is not advisable to blindly pursue scientific and technological behavior with people as the core.
